Advent is about preparation - preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and building hope and anticipation for when He will come again and reign in our hearts AND on earth. Preparation for big moments happens in the little moments - as we prepare for the big things this holiday season, we want to invite Jesus to minister His Light & Life to all the little moments too.
What are you looking forward to during the holidays? What do you do you feel unprepared for? Holidays can bring up a mix of anticipation and dread - those things we get excited about and those things that we are not sure we can face. What does your heart need to enter into this season full?
What do you need today?
Rest?
Peace?
Hope?
Maybe you need relief, or freedom, perspective or comfort. If Jesus came to bring Light & Life what does that mean for that need? Let’s take the time to consider what it looks like for Jesus to meet us in those deep places, those places where our hearts are tired and need refreshing. Those places where joy is building and hope is blooming. Inviting Light & Life to shine in these places is simply encountering the person of Jesus, because that is who He IS. He Himself is the gift of Life.
When we unwrap a gift, we most often acknowledge the giver, then we take a moment to remove the wrapping and discover what it holds inside. It takes a moment. Unwrapping a gift requires that we slow down and pay attention - that we take a moment to consciously remove the wrapping, find what it holds, let it impact us - and receive it with a thank you. As we enter this season full of so many things, we want to slow down and take a moment each day - to pick up the gift of Life and do a little unwrapping. We want to discover more fully & allow our hearts to be impacted by all the goodness we have in Jesus.
Will you join us this advent season in preparing our hearts to receive all that we have in Him?
Follow along through the month of December as we take a moment and let this gift become real to our hearts.
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” Isaiah 60:1
